World Cannabis – Robert Moore – May 30 2023
Vancouver, BC – World Cannabis, a prominent advocate for the decriminalization of cannabis and the protection of charter rights, received an email from the Vancouver Police Department regarding the upcoming ‘Joint Day’ protest event scheduled for June 4 at the Vancouver Art Gallery. We would like to take this opportunity to address the concerns raised by law enforcement while reaffirming our unwavering commitment to our cause.
The Vancouver Police Department acknowledges our right to exercise freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly, as enshrined in sections 2(b) and (c) of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. We appreciate their commitment to respecting these fundamental rights, along with their intention to maintain peace and enforce the law during public gatherings.
While the Vancouver Police Department has mentioned the potential for enforcement action, it is important to note that historically, our protests have been conducted peacefully without any criminal incidents. We firmly believe in the peaceful nature of our movement, which is centered around advocating for the protection of charter rights and challenging existing cannabis laws.
We would like to assure our supporters that we will proceed with the ‘Joint Day’ protest as planned. Our goal is to raise awareness about the urgent need for reform in cannabis legislation, emphasizing the importance of charter rights and the potential benefits of responsible cannabis use.
World Cannabis acknowledges the duty of the Vancouver Police Department to uphold the law and protect public safety. We understand that enforcement actions may be taken if any violations of the law occur during the event. However, we cannot guarantee that no enforcement action will be taken, as it ultimately falls within the discretion of law enforcement officials.
It is our steadfast belief that peaceful protests serve as a powerful tool to advocate for change and draw attention to important societal issues. We encourage all participants to exercise their rights responsibly, respecting the boundaries of the law and the peaceful nature of our demonstration.
World Cannabis remains dedicated to our mission of promoting charter rights and fostering a broader understanding of cannabis-related issues. We call upon all supporters to join us on June 4 at the Vancouver Art Gallery to peacefully express our shared vision for a more just and compassionate society.
