“The city of Edmonton is discussing the possibility of cannabis zoning and licencing for consumption and therapeutic gifts. We aspire to hopefully see that in Q1 of next year.”

Ordering a cannabis-infused coffee or cocktail may soon be a reality in Alberta and a new program is developing to provide training for those in the service industry in anticipation of regulatory approval.

Currently, consuming cannabis at drinking or eating establishments is not allowed under provincial legislation but, in anticipation of approval, Nathan Mison, president of Diplomat Consulting, said Edmonton could be at the forefront.
